Linen

I've been a huge fan of LA brand Reformation since the label launched in 2012. Their easy, feminine pieces are classic and timeless, while still managing to look completely "right now." But let's be real, not everyone can afford the $200+ price tag.

But other retailers are taking notice. Natural materials (think linen and cotton blends) have been taking over along with organic-looking colors and stripes.

I will always love embroidery and boho prints, but there's also something appealing about throwing something on without having to think in 90 degree heat and looking like you just strolled in off the Riviera.

Hint: just add espadrilles and a handmade accessory from previous 2 posts!

Golden Girl

This season, I'm having a serious obsession with anything golden hued. From mustard to saffron to bronze to camel, this rich color just screams fall. Bonus points luxe fabrications like velvet and satin!

Levi's Customized Vintage 505

I have a pretty serious thing for destructed denim. Soft abrasion, full-on knee blowouts- I love it all. But what I'm particularly loving right now are heritage and vintage washes that companies are revisiting from their archives. And not surprisingly, Levi's is at the top of my list.

Enter the 1967 Customized 505 jean from Levi's. The true blue wash, the mid rise and straight fit combined with the patchwork and vintage stitching detail makes my heart swoon. It's safe to say that these jeans are the fit of the summer. And for over 80% off, these are by far the best value for your money.

White is All Right

Blame it on the spring weather in the forecast next week (or the fact that I'm getting married in 3 months!), but lately I can't stop myself from snatching up every white dress in sight. I feel refreshed just looking at them after months of sweaters, snow boots, and puffers.

As always I'm drawn to dresses with special details; vintage-inspired lace, bell sleeves, ruffles, and ties. The details make them just as versatile as your standard LBD- paired with booties or gladiator sandals they give off a refined boho vibe. With a nude heeled sandal they can take you all the way to a casual "I do."

I can't say for sure where I'll be wearing these yet (courthouse ceremony? bridal shower? beach?), but with these LWD's at the ready I know I'll be covered .

My Kind of Basic

One of those pieces I can never get enough of are printed peasant blouses. Border printed, block printed, all-over printed; silk, cotton, you name it I have it. They immediately add personality and a luxe layer to whatever you're wearing. This silk number will look equally great with my favorite black jeans now and with destroyed cutoffs later.

This or That?

Trolling in the juniors section on tjmaxx.com recently, I saw a few familiar faces from Urban Outfitters. Yes, these items are from last year, but one of them I actually missed out on during their big summer sale back in July. They're still on trend, still right, and yes I still want them. It's interesting to see the Urban styling vs. the TJMaxx styling (or lack there of). The garments are almost unrecognizable between the two sites. Below the Urban Outfitters' versions. Click through to the steals at TJMaxx.

Are We There Yet?

With my summer vacation (finally!) on the horizon, I can't help but have resort wear on the brain. I think the things you wear on vacation should be your absolute favorites - items you can't wear in your normal day-to-day life, the things you long to wear all year round. They should transform and transport. For me, that always means an exotic print, a new silhouette, and as many tassels as possible.

I've rounded up a few of my current favorites that will get those summer vibes flowing.

Rain, rain...

I can't tell you how close I've come to buying these amazing rain boots from Loeffler Randall. I know, I know, $195 (!!!) for rain boots?! I wouldn't even spend that much on every day boots. But man, aren't they good? The thought of pulling on protective footwear that you're actually excited to wear and actually fit in with the rest of your wardrobe really appeals to me. With spring on the way (and probably more winter weather ahead of us) it's time for me to get over the fantasy boots and get real. And really, the below options from Tjmaxx and 6pm are pretty cool as far as rain boots go.

And the countdown begins ..

Something struck me as I was walking past the Macy's at Herald Square today .. CHRISTMAS IS NEXT MONTH! The signs are kind of hard to miss .. the weather's cooling down, stores are starting to play holiday music (!) and I've heard Santa is starting to show his face at some of the local malls. Maybe a little early, but exciting nonetheless. People might think I'm crazy, but I love to Christmas shop year-round. My theory is, the longer you wait, the more you panic and start shelling out cash like there's no tomorrow. And I also prefer to truly enjoy the weeks leading up to the holidays. While people are out scrambling for gifts at an already crowded mall, I'm usually happily (and elaborately!) wrapping thoughtful presents. I think my friends and family deserve fabulous things, and with a little effort and planning, I give them just that!

This is the first of a few gift guides for the holiday season. First up, my picks for Mom.

If your mom doesn't already have a pair of cashmere gloves, get her a pair!  In bright fuchsia, these will make her smile on even the most bitter winter day.

Portolano via TJMaxx cashmere gloves- $16.99

LOVE this take on a Mongolian fur gilet. It's more glamorous than a down puffer vest and just as warm.

Fall Wardrobe Essentials; Day 9

If there's one bag that's been talked about the most this season (thanks to Mansur Gavriel and YSL), it's the bucket bag. 70s icon and it-girl accessory du jour, the bucket bag is the epitome of casual cool. Black and heavily studded, it works downtown for drinks. In soft caramel leather, it channels a more collegiate vibe. Preppy or edgy, there's a version out there for everyone. This is not a new silhouette. There are a lot of versions out there at a lot of different price points. Thrifting for this bag could be the best deal out there.

Mad for Plaid

Adding my own "fall wardrobe essential" today- the plaid shirt! Oversized, tailored, tunic length or sleeveless- I can't get seem to get enough plaid shirts season. I just couldn't keep these Velvet Heart via TJMaxx goodies to myself! In soft tencel and rayon, they all originally retailed for $100. On TJMaxx they're all under $30. It's going to be really hard not to buy them all...
