Last Days of Gingham

Summer is officially winding down and I'm finding myself scrambling to get onemorewear out of my favorites. I picked up this skirt last week on sale at Asos and have been trying to wear it as much as humanly possible before I have to pack it away until next year.

Gingham is one of those patterns that just screams high summer to me, so come September it will be the first to go. But swapping a white blouse and espadrilles for a black tee and sandals makes it ever so slightly more transitional.

Put a Belt On It

Western belts are having a major moment and none so much as B-Low the Belt's Bri Bri belt

Seen on just about every blogger, celebrity, and model over the last 6 months, Bri Bri and little  sister, Baby Bri Bri are considered the holy grail of accessories going into spring. So much so that almost every designer has their own (cheaper!) copy.

I, along with everyone in my office, recently picked up this version from Asos. It's real leather and the metal buckles have a nice weight to them. It gets the trend across without doing a number on my bank account.

With the Band

This week I'm obsessing over fuzzy, furry, shaggy cardigans. They give a great textural element to a basic jeans and tee look (a fashion rut I can't seem to break out of this week) while also lending that coveted rock-chic vibe.

The (almost) Big Chill

I am so excited to finally be talking about winter accessories. It is slowly but surely cooling down here in New York, so that means bundling up with some fabulous new cold weather must-haves. Again, plaids are everything this season. And if you're not comfortable going all-out in a plaid shirt or dress, a scarf is the way to do it. Oversized proportions and classic tartans are everywhere and at every price point. While I almost always prefer a natural fiber (wool, cashmere or cotton), the acrylic scarves I've been seeing this season have been blowing me away. They're soft, drapey, and CHEAP so you can stock up and not feel guilty if you leave one in a cab!
