The Bag

To piggyback on my last post about natural bags.. this Steven Alan bag.. is everything! I saw it on Shopbop a few weeks ago but didn't pull the trigger. Then while browsing Nordstrom Rack over my Sunday morning coffee, there it was for 50% off. While I love the look of ata/rattan bags, they're just not practical for this commuting New Yorker. I love that this bag is trimmed in leather, making it a touch more wearable for every day.

Also into this, this, and this for a summer bag update.

Everyday Jewelry

Fine jewelry is something fairly new to me. I got into it when shopping for my engagement and wedding rings and was immediately hooked. I love the idea of jewelry that you can live with; wash your hands with it on, sleep, shower, and exercise with it on. It's a constant accessory and becomes so much more personal that way. It also becomes something you don't have to think about. For someone who spends about 15 minutes from the shower to the door, that's everything.

Finding LA jewelry designer Vrai & Oro has been key in allowing me to gradually upgrade my jewelry wardrobe. They offer classic, well made designs without the markups. From rings to earrings to diamond necklaces, there's something for every occasion. My current favorite are their skinny stacking rings. At $50 each, it's a great go-to gift for people who don't know what to get me. I just can't get enough of them!

I switched out my tiny gold studs for these mini hoops a few months ago and I'm still obsessed. They add the perfect amount of sparkle and are completely weightless.

This sweet initial pinky ring is the latest addition to my collection. It's the perfect personal gift for a friend or for yourself.

In the Bag

I'm not really a big handbag girl, so when I do make a purchase it has to count. It has to be super versatile and work in both dressy occasions and on weekends. It needs to be a neutral and have special texture and hardware. And finally it has to be high quality but still a good value (read: at least 70% off retail). At under $200 for mid level designer bags, I'd say all of the below fit the bill. Personally I'm swooning for the Allsaints bags. It's my first time seeing them on my favorite discount sites and I can't wait to see more of them.

1. Allsaints, 2. Frye, 3. Allsaints, 4. Vince

Must Buy

Just had to share this "must buy" with you guys today. Celine opticals are some of my favorites out there, but their $350+ price tag keeps them from making too many appearances on this blog. But these classic round sunnies in a transparent blush color are on sale at T.J.Maxx for $79! Get them before they're gone!

Sandal Sale

Shoes are the one thing I tend to stock up on during end of season mega sales. Shoes wear SO hard when you live in the city, so I tend to go through sandals in a single season. Luckily, I found a huge selection of my favorite brand Sol Sana at 6pm.com. ALL are at least 60% off, under $50 and ship free when you buy 2 or more.

I can't wait to remember I bought these next year!

Spring is Coming

I know, I know. The east coast is predicted to get 12-18" this week, a week before the official first day of spring. But I swear, sandal weather is coming.

I've been wearing Australian brand Sol Sana for years. Well made, classic silhouettes translate to pieces you'll be wearing for seasons to come.

I recently picked up a few goodies via 6pm.com and just had to share the wealth. These are lined up in my closet just waiting for that first 65 degree day!

Turquoise Dreams

I've had a pretty serious obsession with Native American turquoise jewelry since high school. The colors, the rawness of the stones, and the nature-inspired shapes really speak to me. Not to mention the prevalence of the jewelry on some of my favorite musicians from the 60s and 70s; from Jimi Hendrix to Cher

The squash blossom necklace has always been on my wish list, but with a price tag of 1k+ for an authentic one, it has never made its way into my collection. I don't normally go for reproductions of stone jewelry as they usually look cheap, when I saw this one from Zara I knew I had to give it a go.

The verdict? It's a keeper! My turquoise cravings are satisfied for now ..

Put a Belt On It

Western belts are having a major moment and none so much as B-Low the Belt's Bri Bri belt

Seen on just about every blogger, celebrity, and model over the last 6 months, Bri Bri and little  sister, Baby Bri Bri are considered the holy grail of accessories going into spring. So much so that almost every designer has their own (cheaper!) copy.

I, along with everyone in my office, recently picked up this version from Asos. It's real leather and the metal buckles have a nice weight to them. It gets the trend across without doing a number on my bank account.

Here you can stock up on great staples (or holiday gifts!) like jeans, sweaters, outerwear and flannels. And if you don't live in LA you can still get plenty of wear out of (hello polar vortex!) them right this second.

Boho Luxe

My go-to for luxe boho pieces is French brand Antik Batik. Gorgeous prints, colorful embroidery, and Indian influences make each piece a special event you'll want to wear every day.

Unfortunately, these gorgeous pieces come at a price. But I've been lucky to find a lot of gems over the years from Italian retailer (and Net-a-Porter owned) Yoox.com. Here you'll also find a ton of other Europe-only brands with great deals on clothing, shoes, and accessories. It takes some time to dig, but trust me it's worth it!

See some of my favorites below. And Yoox is known to offer extra % off and free shipping almost weekly!

Overalls can be tricky. They can make you look like a little boy or a farmer. They can make you look stumpy or dated. Enter Madewell's Flea Market Flare overall. The flare adds length to your legs and gives them that chic 70's feel while the dark wash gives a slimming effect all over.

These are a fashion item, so I would never pay full price for them. But if they happen to become a big part of your wardrobe rotation, you'll be even more stoked about the $35 price point. I'll be wearing mine with a slim turtleneck, platform boots, and the perfect hat.

Saturday Edit

One of the first rounds of fall clearance is happening and there are some major goodies to be had. As per usual I'm itching to add some new sunnies and booties to the mix.

But hands-down the best deal this week is the Cynthia Vincent drape cardi in this post. It's everything; a heavy weight wool-blend, ombre, a great ikat pattern.. and more than 90% off! I can't wait to add it to my fall rotation.

Daily Deal featuring Pam & Gela

I've been obsessed with Juicy Couture founders Pam & Gela's latest reinvention since it launched a few years back. It's California-cool at its best. Great graphic tees and vintage-inspired embroidered pieces give this basics-driven collection an edge.

Just add a hat and fringed bootie for the perfect summer into fall look.
