Boot Up

We spent last weekend visiting family in Pennsylvania and experienced an unexpected snowstorm while we were there. Add to that an evening trip to Longwood Gardens (3 hours of outdoor strolling/freezing) and you've got one unhappy camper. I was totally unprepared from my coat to my shoes. And while I really dislike 99% of winter boots, I decided to start looking so I'm never caught off guard again.

Happily I found not one, but two that I love and don't feel like a total departure from my every day style. Bring on the winter weather!

Sandal Sale

Shoes are the one thing I tend to stock up on during end of season mega sales. Shoes wear SO hard when you live in the city, so I tend to go through sandals in a single season. Luckily, I found a huge selection of my favorite brand Sol Sana at 6pm.com. ALL are at least 60% off, under $50 and ship free when you buy 2 or more.

I can't wait to remember I bought these next year!

Spring is Coming

I know, I know. The east coast is predicted to get 12-18" this week, a week before the official first day of spring. But I swear, sandal weather is coming.

I've been wearing Australian brand Sol Sana for years. Well made, classic silhouettes translate to pieces you'll be wearing for seasons to come.

I recently picked up a few goodies via 6pm.com and just had to share the wealth. These are lined up in my closet just waiting for that first 65 degree day!

Westward Leaning

If you know me at all, you'll know how much I love a good Western bootie. Part Erin Wasson and part Ralph Lauren, this style with its pointy toes, seaming and embroidery give that perfect masculine edge to every look. I fell in love with these Dolce Vita booties earlier in the season via Nordstrom (seen here and here), but the $160+ price tag had me thinking twice about even dreaming of buying them.

Thank goodness for TJMaxx! I recently found two of my favorite pairs for $59! Get them while you still can.

Spanish Soles

Espadrilles are having a big moment this season.  The resurgence of the seasonal fave is in part because of the insane popularity of these Aquazzura shoes which have inspired a bevy of knock-offs. While I usually stick to the classic Soludos Dali, I've been longing for something more feminine with a platform.

Enter these babies from Splendid. With ankle ties and rustic stripes they'll add the perfect South of France vibe to denim and white looks all summer long.

White Now

We've finally had a few tastes of summer here on the east coast and what better way to celebrate than sharing my favorite new white dress?

In my book, this dress has everything going for it; it's cotton, it's textured, it has crochet trim, it's off the shoulder, and it has a sweet sleeve detail. Oh, and the adorable front pockets. If this dress doesn't leave you dreaming of your next trip to Santorini-Capri-Majorca, I don't know what will.

Don't forget to pack your espadrilles and straw bag!

One of the first rounds of fall clearance is happening and there are some major goodies to be had. As per usual I'm itching to add some new sunnies and booties to the mix.

But hands-down the best deal this week is the Cynthia Vincent drape cardi in this post. It's everything; a heavy weight wool-blend, ombre, a great ikat pattern.. and more than 90% off! I can't wait to add it to my fall rotation.

Unless you live under a rock, you'll know that gladiator sandals continue to be the biggest trend for Summer 2015. Naturally, boho queen Isabel Marant has put out a slew of them, all costing upwards of $800. You could blow and entire paycheck on a pair of sandals .. or you could buy the Zara version on sale for $29.90. I know which pair I'm buying!

Spanish Soles

Some people wear Toms, and some people wear Soludos. I fall into the Soludos category. I love everything about these espadrilles. I love the hand crafted quality, the boho prints, and how they just scream summer. These shoes were meant for the beach.

At full retail you can expect to pay upwards of $36 for these, but Hautelook has a whole cache of them for under $10. The sale is over on Friday, so get 'em while you can!

Do the Slide

Love it or hate it, the Birkenstock/shower shoe trend is here to stay for another season. I resisted last year, but I have to admit it's grown on me since then. What I love about the shoes below is that they offer some feminine styling. Whether it's a metallic finish or some hardware, these are a far cry from their basic Arizona brothers.

Rain, rain...

I can't tell you how close I've come to buying these amazing rain boots from Loeffler Randall. I know, I know, $195 (!!!) for rain boots?! I wouldn't even spend that much on every day boots. But man, aren't they good? The thought of pulling on protective footwear that you're actually excited to wear and actually fit in with the rest of your wardrobe really appeals to me. With spring on the way (and probably more winter weather ahead of us) it's time for me to get over the fantasy boots and get real. And really, the below options from Tjmaxx and 6pm are pretty cool as far as rain boots go.

I've been a fan of NYC based shoe designer Matt Bernson for a long time. His well-made shoes bridge the gap between timeless and trendy perfectly and give every outfit an effortless cool-girl feel. It's no wonder he has a huge celebrity following. Well-made shoes can be expensive, but lucky for us, TJMaxx just delivered a small selection of Matt Bernson styles. And you won't believe the discount! You're welcome.

Fall Wardrobe Essentials; Day 4

The ankle boot is probably the most versatile of shoes. They pair equally well with a rolled skinny jean or a flirty dress. They can even help transition summer pieces into early fall. Shorts or a summery maxi dress suddenly seem September-worthy with the right ankle boot. The ankle boot is also universally flattering. The ankle shaft height is key; it doesn't visually cut off the leg. In a caramel shade ankle boots can even be leg-lengthening!

From moto to chelsea, here are some of my faves!
